TEHRAN: According to Iran’s IRNA news agency, funeral prayers for former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and his family were held in Tehran. The US and Israel had killed him in an attack earlier this year.
The funeral prayers were led by Ayatollah Jafar Sobhani at the Imam Khomeini Mosque, a major religious and cultural center in Tehran.
According to IRNA, the funeral prayers were held in three stages. In the first stage, the funeral prayers of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei were held, in the second stage, the funeral prayers of his daughter Bushra Khamenei, son-in-law Misbah al-Huda Baqeri and daughter-in-law Zahra Haddad Adel were held.
In the third stage, the funeral prayers of Ali Khamenei’s young granddaughter Zahra Mohammadi were held.
According to BBC Persian, after the funeral prayers, the organizers of the event chanted slogans of avenging and seeking revenge for Ali Khamenei’s blood.
