ISLAMABAD: The administration of the federal capital and Rawalpindi has imposed a ban on the entry of public transport, freight vehicles and heavy traffic into the cities in view of the security situation.
According to the orders issued by Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hassan Waqar Cheema, all types of public and heavy transport movement in Rawalpindi will remain closed with immediate effect.
Similarly, the district administration of Islamabad has also officially announced the suspension of heavy and public transport in the city. The district administration has informed the citizens that these measures have been taken to maintain law and order.
The administration has appealed to the citizens to fully cooperate with the security agencies in the current situation so that any untoward incident can be avoided. This ban will remain in place until further orders.
Sources say that instructions have been issued to vacate two major hotels in Islamabad before evening, while advance teams of foreign delegations have started reaching Islamabad.
Officials say that the metro bus service from PIMS station to Pak Secretariat has been closed, while the metro bus service from Saddar station to Kachhari is operational.
