ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Weather Update: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has said that westerly winds are likely to enter Pakistan tonight, due to which rain is expected in most parts of the country.
According to the NDMA, there is a possibility of rain and snowfall in the mountainous areas. Rain is likely in the upper and central areas on December 31, while this weather pattern may continue till January 2.
During this time, snowfall has been predicted in Naran, Kaghan, Swat, Dir, Kohistan, Murree and Galiyat.
In addition, snowfall has also been predicted in Skardu and Hunza, due to which there is a possibility of closure of communication roads. There is also a risk of landslides in various areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.
The NDMA has directed tourists and travelers to avoid unnecessary travel and has asked the relevant agencies to remain alert.
On the other hand, according to the NDMA, the intensity of fog is likely to decrease in central and southern Punjab as a result of the rains.
