ISLAMABAD: An alert of heavy rains, snowfall and landslides has been issued across the country from April 12 to 17.
According to the details, the National Emergency Operations Center of the National Disaster Management Authority has issued important advisories and advance assessments regarding the possible weather conditions across the country from April 12 to 17.
NDMA said that a series of westerly winds will affect the upper areas of the country, as a result of which thundershowers, wind and hail are expected in Islamabad, Murree, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Sialkot from April 13 to 17.
In addition, strong winds and rain are likely in various districts including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Mansehra and Abbottabad from April 12 to 17, while snowfall has also been predicted in the upper mountainous areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
However, unlike the upper regions, the weather will remain hot and dry in the southern parts of the country, namely Sindh and Balochistan, while the temperature is expected to increase further.
The NDMA has warned citizens and travelers that the risk of landslides may increase due to continuous rains in the mountainous areas, while there is a possibility of travel being affected due to slippery roads and snowfall. Tourists should check the situation before heading to the northern regions.
The NDMA said that weak structures, trees and electrical installations may be damaged by strong winds and lightning. The public should stay away from these objects during the storm.
The NDMA has issued instructions to all provincial and district disaster management authorities, including relevant institutions, to remain alert so that any emergency situation can be dealt with immediately.
