NEW DELHI: The 36-day protest by the Indian youth party, the Cockroach Janta Party, over the paper leak issue has come to fruition and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned from his post.
Indian Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan shared the text of his resignation on social media, while Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi immediately accepted Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.
Text of Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation
My young colleagues, for more than 4 decades, I have been dedicated to students, teachers and education reform. I have always believed that a strong, comprehensive and far-sighted education system is the foundation of a strong nation. I deeply respect the aspirations, feelings and legitimate demands of the country’s youth.
He wrote in his resignation that irregularities were revealed in the NEET-UG exam to be held in May 2026, the Government of India immediately took notice of it, handed over the investigation to the CBI and canceled the exam and announced a new date.
Dharmendra Pradhan says that it was my determination that we will not let the future of any capable student be destroyed due to the exam mafia, we will not let injustice be done to any student.
He further wrote that the NEET-UG results announced on July 16 were satisfactory, in which many capable students from poor backgrounds also succeeded, but even during this time, people in responsible positions tried to obstruct many students, which made my heart very sad.
The resigned Education Minister further said that I have always been an unwavering believer in the strength of our democratic system and have deeply respected the aspirations, dreams and expectations of the youth. They are not only the future of India but also the pioneers, architects and future leaders of a new and developed India. My heart is saddened by the events of the last 10 days. This is not a matter of personal pride for me. The youth power of India is the real power of this country.
He says that the youth power of the country will not be allowed to be trapped in a cycle of deception. This is my resolve. The situation that has arisen at Jantar Mantar and in the country should not be taken advantage of by anti-national forces. The unity of the country should remain intact. The future of not a single student of India should be entangled in legal complications. Our children should invest their time in their studies and focus on building a career. Considering this, I have sent my resignation to the Prime Minister.
Cockroach Janta Party’s reaction to the resignation of the Education Minister
In this regard, the spokesperson of the Cockroach Janta Party said that it is a very good thing that Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned, all our demands have been officially accepted in writing, we will go home, we will peacefully march across the country with torches on Sunday.
On the other hand, CJP President Abhijit Deepke said in his reaction that they used to say that resignations do not happen in this government, Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned, we have been defeated.
Abhijit Deepke said that Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation is proof that if you are not afraid and do not bow down before the government, then you can take resignation from anyone, there should be no fear in a democracy.
It should be noted that the Cockroach Janata Party had been protesting in the capital New Delhi since May 2026 over the issue of exam paper leaks, and during this time, prominent Indian personality Sonam Wangchuck also went on a 26-day hunger strike.
The Cockroach Janata Party called on everyone to reach Jantar Mantar on July 20, upon which thousands of youth reached the protest site. However, the Indian police used lathicharge and water cannons on the youth, and dozens of youth were also detained.
After about a month and a half, the Indian Prime Minister released a video message on social media, encouraging the youth to end the protest, but despite all the Modi government’s high-handed tactics, the Indian youth remained steadfast in their demand for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and rejected the government’s demand for the establishment of fast-track courts. India’s opposition parties and political and social figures also continued to justify the demands of the young protesters.
