ISLAMABAD: Heavy Rains: The Meteorological Department has predicted thunderstorms and rain in different parts of the country.
According to the Meteorological Department, thunderstorms and rain have been predicted in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan in the evening hours.
Heavy rain is expected in Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, Karak and Bannu, while thunderstorms and rain are likely in DI Khan, Chitral, Swat, Dir and Miranshah. Similarly, heavy rain has been expected in Kohistan, Shangla and Buner.
The Meteorological Department says that rain with thunderstorms may occur at a few places in Mansehra, Abbottabad, Battagram and Parachinar.
On the other hand, the weather in the northeastern districts of Balochistan is likely to be partly cloudy. Thunderstorms have been predicted in Zhob, Sherani, Ziarat, Kohlu, Naseerabad, Quetta and Qila Saifullah, while rain is also expected at a few places in Qila Abdullah, Harnai, Sibi, Barkhan, Khuzdar and Dera Bugti.
According to DG Meteorological Department Irfan Virk, there is a possibility of rain in Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah and Bhakkar in the afternoon, while intermittent rains are expected in the upper areas of Punjab from today to June 20. Rain has also been predicted in Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin and Jhelum.
Irfan Virk said that there is a possibility of rain in most areas of northeastern Balochistan, which is expected to make the weather pleasant.
He said that heavy rains are expected in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa until June 20, while thunderstorms, strong winds and rain may continue in the upper and central districts of the province.
According to DG Met, there is also a risk of landslides due to heavy rains in some areas of Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla and Kohistan, which may affect traffic on highways.
Irfan Wark directed tourists and citizens to avoid going near rivers, streams and rain rails during the rains and follow the instructions of the local administration to avoid any untoward incident.
It should be noted that normal life was affected due to wind and torrential rain in Rahim Yar Khan, while 5 people were injured in various accidents.
According to relief agencies, walls, trees, electricity poles and signboards fell in different areas during the strong winds and rain, resulting in damage at several places and injuring five people.
Due to the severe weather, the power system was also disrupted in different areas of the city and its surrounding areas due to the fall of trees and electricity poles, causing power outages for several hours.
According to MEPCO, power supply has been restored after several hours after emergency repair work was completed in the affected areas.
Meanwhile, the administration and relief teams have continued relief activities in the affected areas and have instructed citizens not to leave their homes unnecessarily during bad weather.
