Karachi: A dual weather situation has emerged in Sindh and Punjab, with intense heat in some places and rain in others.
According to the Meteorological Department, the heat intensity is likely to increase further in most parts of the country from today. The sun has been shining in many cities of Sindh since this morning, while rain has made the weather pleasant in some areas of Punjab.
The Meteorological Department says that the weather will remain hot and dry in most districts of Sindh, including Karachi. The temperature in Karachi is likely to reach 40 degrees Celsius today.
However, due to the humidity in the air, the heat intensity can be felt up to 49 degrees Celsius. The situation is more serious in interior Sindh where temperatures were recorded up to 46 degrees Celsius in Jacobabad, Dadu and Hyderabad, while the mercury reached 45 degrees in Sukkur.
Balochistan’s Turbat and Sibi recorded a temperature of 45 degrees Celsius, while Punjab’s Bahawalpur recorded 42 degrees Celsius and Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Dera Ismail Khan recorded 40 degrees Celsius. Experts have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun.
On the other hand, early morning rain in Lahore has broken the heat wave, where the sun and clouds are still circling.
The Meteorological Department has predicted scattered rain and hail in Kasur, Sheikhupura, Potohar, Kashmir region and several other areas of Punjab today, which is expected to reduce the heat in these areas.
