Glasgow: Pakistani boxer Fatima Zahra won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games, becoming the first Pakistani woman to win a medal in boxing in the history of the event.
In the semi-finals of the 60 kg boxing category at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Pakistan’s Fatima Zahra was defeated by a Canadian boxer.
In the first round, the opponent boxer had a 1-4 lead. In the second round, the referee stopped the fight. Thus, Fatima Zahra lost the match, but managed to win the bronze medal in the event.
Pakistan has won a medal in the boxing event of the Commonwealth Games after 2014.
In addition, Fatima Zahra also became the first Pakistani woman to win a medal in the boxing event of the Commonwealth Games.
It should be remembered that Fatima defeated New Zealand’s Jordan Wilson in the quarterfinals of the women’s 60 kg category.
