BEIJING: China and Pakistan have called for an immediate end to attacks on civilians and non-military targets in the Middle East.
According to the Foreign Office, important consultations were held in Beijing between the Chinese Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar on the situation in the region.
China and Pakistan called for an immediate ceasefire, prevention of the spread of the war and access of humanitarian aid to the war-torn areas.
China and Pakistan urged the parties to start peace talks as soon as possible, and to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iran and the Gulf states.
According to China and Pakistan, negotiations and diplomacy are the only viable ways to resolve conflicts, and the use or threat of force should be avoided during peace talks.
Both countries called for an immediate end to attacks on civilians and non-military targets and stressed the protection of energy, desalination, power plants and peaceful nuclear infrastructure.
China and Pakistan called for the protection of ships and crews stranded in the Strait of Hormuz and the restoration of safe passage, and said that the Strait of Hormuz and adjacent sea lanes are very important for global trade and energy supply, and the rapid and safe passage of civilian and commercial ships should be ensured.
China and Pakistan emphasized the supremacy of the United Nations Charter and international law.
China and Pakistan announced their support for the establishment of a comprehensive peace framework and the multilateral system for lasting peace, and stressed the need to further strengthen the central role of the United Nations.
