The world’s most popular footballer from Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo, has opened up about his retirement plans.
Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that this season will likely be his last as a footballer, after which he can say goodbye to a brilliant career.
Ronaldo, 41, married his partner Georgina Rodriguez on Tuesday and is now considering organizing his future around his family.
According to foreign media reports, Ronaldo said in an interview after his wedding that ‘this may be my last year in football, and I want to leave a great legacy’.
Ronaldo said that he has fully planned his future and has many things to keep himself busy after he is away from football.
Ronaldo added that he wants to have more fun, travel more, play and watch paddles, as well as enjoy his achievements. He said that after all, it has been a journey of 25 years of sacrifice.
It should be noted that Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner and five-time Champions League winner, has won league titles in England, Spain, Italy and Saudi Arabia. He is also the top scorer in men’s international football.
The Portugal captain has been part of Saudi Pro League champions Al-Nassr for almost four years, where he still has a year left on his contract.
When asked in July if this would be his last FIFA World Cup, Ronaldo said he would make the decision “with a calm mind” after consulting his family.
