ISLAMABAD: Alert warnings have been issued in Rawalpindi and Islamabad due to heavy rains, and sirens have been sounded in low-lying areas.
According to details, the situation has become critical after the heavy rains in Rawalpindi, Islamabad and surrounding areas, on which an alert warning has been issued in the twin cities.
Due to heavy rain, the water level in Nala Lai is continuously and rapidly increasing and the water level has exceeded 22 feet.
After which, evacuation instructions have been issued for the affected areas and danger sirens have been sounded in low-lying areas after the flooding in Nala Lai.
Water has entered the roads and houses of several low-lying areas including Javed Colony and Nadeem Colony, while flooding has also been recorded in the drains of Jamia Masjid Road, Dhok Khuba and Sadiqabad.
Residents of Katarian, Gowalmandi, Javed Colony and Nadeem Colony have been instructed to immediately move to safer places.
Relief operations and emergency measures Emergency has been imposed in low-lying areas, after which teams of Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, WASA and Rescue 1122 have reached the affected areas with relief materials and machinery.
Relief operations are continuously underway in low-lying areas for timely transfer of citizens and drainage of water. The administration is continuously sounding alarm sirens to warn citizens to be aware and cautious.
