ISLAMABAD: A new weather alert has been issued in May, with the Meteorological Department predicting unusual rains across the country.
According to a private TV channel, the Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of heavy rains in the northern areas, with more rain expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir and northern Punjab.
According to the report, there is a risk of landslides in mountainous areas due to heavy rains, flash floods are expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northern Balochistan, urban flooding is expected in big cities, while low-lying areas may be affected.
The Meteorological Department has predicted that the rains will continue intermittently, but despite the rains, the heat is likely to continue.
According to the report, a heat wave-like situation may occur in Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan, and there is a risk of damage to crops due to windstorms and hail.
