ISLAMABAD: Heatwaves, Heavy Rains : The Meteorological Department has issued a detailed weather forecast for the entire country from July to September 2026, indicating the possibility of unusual weather changes in different areas.
According to the forecast, above-normal temperatures are likely to be experienced in most parts of the country, including Balochistan, Punjab and southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which may lead to extreme heat and heatwave-like conditions.
Normal or slightly above-normal rainfall has been predicted in the northern regions, especially Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which may increase the risk of flash floods and landslides.
According to the Meteorological Department, rainfall in mountainous areas is expected to increase the inflow of water into rivers and water bodies, while urban flooding may also occur during heavy rains in plain areas.
The report said that the agricultural sector may be affected due to below-normal rainfall in Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kharif crops may face water shortage.
The agency has warned that the increase in temperature may accelerate the melting of snow, which also increases the risk of glacial lakes bursting.
It has been further said that due to intermittent rains and intense heat, there is a possibility of strong winds, dust storms, thunderstorms and hail, which can damage crops and gardens.
According to the Meteorological Department, the spread of dengue and other seasonal diseases may increase due to prolonged dry and hot weather, especially in major cities in the southern regions.
The agency has instructed citizens to avoid going out unnecessarily during extreme heat, use more water and avoid staying in the sun for long periods.
Farmers have also been advised to monitor weather updates to protect crops, while travelers and tourists have been urged to take precautions during the rains.
