KARACHI: A K2 Airways cargo plane from Sharjah to Karachi has crashed into the sea near Karachi, killing all five crew members.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority and aviation sources, this tragic incident occurred when the Boeing 737 plane was flying from Sharjah to Karachi with cargo and suddenly lost contact with it at night.
Authorities have confirmed that all five crew members who were involved in the accident were Pakistani citizens who lost their lives in the accident.
Aviation officials, while giving details of the incident, said that at 9:18 pm, the K2 Airways flight reported a malfunction in the navigation system during its journey, on which the Karachi control tower immediately started guiding the pilot.
But exactly three minutes later, at 9:21 PM, the plane suddenly appeared on radar descending rapidly and its course also changed rapidly.
Immediately after this, the plane completely lost radar contact over the sea, about 155 nautical miles west of Karachi.
Immediately after the plane went missing, the Pakistan Aviation Authority (PAA) activated the emergency response center and launched a major search and rescue operation at sea with the help of various agencies.
Initially, it was reported that the plane was flying over the sea near Ormara when it went missing.
Later, it was sadly confirmed by rescue agencies that none of the crew on board the plane survived.
The Civil Aviation Authority has revealed the identities of all five Pakistanis who died.
According to officials, the deceased include the plane’s captain, Muhammad Rizwan Idrees, First Officer Faisal Jatoi, Flight Engineers Muhammad Hamid and Muhammad Arif Siddiqui, and Load Master Muhammad Tawfiq Khan.
