The first spell of monsoon is set to enter Pakistan and will enter the country from July 1.
According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon season in Pakistan is likely to start from July 1. The first spell of monsoon will enter Punjab and Azad Kashmir from July 1.
According to the PDMA, the first monsoon system will initially affect the northeastern parts of the country, especially Punjab and Azad Kashmir, along with rains have also been predicted in the northern areas and northeastern Punjab from July 1.
The Meteorological Department has predicted that the weather will remain dry in Sindh and other parts of the country for the next several days. However, low air pressure is forming over the Bay of Bengal, which may bring showers in the coastal areas of Sindh including Karachi. Despite this, there is a possibility of below-average rainfall in many parts of Sindh during the monsoon.
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is likely to be warmer than usual in the southern parts of the country, central Punjab, eastern Balochistan and western Sindh.
The PDMA has warned that higher than normal temperatures could further intensify the heatwave, especially in the plains of Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan.
Despite the forecast of below normal rainfall in the monsoon, the PDMA has warned that some areas may experience heavy rainfall, which could cause urban flooding in major cities.
