MUMBAI: West Indies defeated Zimbabwe by 107 runs in the Super Eights match of the ICC T20 World Cup.
In the match played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Zimbabwe won the toss and decided to field first, which was very difficult for them.
The West Indian batsmen rained sixes and fours on the field and scored 254 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. A total of 19 sixes and 16 fours were hit in the West Indies innings.
This is the second highest score in the history of the T20 World Cup, the record for the highest score is held by Sri Lanka of 260 runs, which it made against Kenya in the first T20 World Cup in 2007.
For the West Indies, Shimron Hetmyer scored 85, Roman Powell scored 59, and Sheriff Rutherford scored 31 runs.
Shimron Hetmyer completed his half-century in 19 balls and scored 85 runs in 34 balls with the help of 7 sixes and 7 fours. Roman Powell completed his half-century in 29 balls.
For Zimbabwe, Mozarabani and Nagawara took two wickets each.
In pursuit of the target, the Zimbabwe team faced difficulties from the start and the entire team was dismissed for 147 runs in the 18th over.
For Zimbabwe, Brad Evans stood out by scoring 43 runs with the help of 5 sixes. Apart from them, Dan Mears scored 28 and captain Sikandar Raza scored 27 runs.

Earlier, Shimron Hetmyer’s half-century in the West Indies innings was the fastest half-century by a West Indies batsman in a T20 World Cup, before that, Chris Gayle scored a half-century in 23 balls against Australia in the 2009 T20 World Cup.
With his half-century, Shimron Hetmyer also improved his previous record, which he had previously scored in 22 balls against Scotland.
It should be noted that the overall fastest half-century in the history of T20 Internationals is held by India’s Yuvraj Singh, who scored a half-century in just 12 balls against England in the first T20 World Cup in 2007.
