New York: Spain won the World Cup for the second time by defeating defending champions Argentina 0-1 in the final of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Spain dominated the first half of the decisive match played in New York, making several attacks on the defending champions’ goal but could not take the lead.
Spain’s defense was so strong in this half that Argentina did not get a single shot on the opponent’s goal. The match was tied without a goal at the break.
The same situation remained in the second half. The referee showed Argentina’s Fernandes a red card and sent him off the field before the end of the scheduled time of the game for fouling a Spanish player, after which the Argentine team had to play with 10 men for the rest of the time.
The Argentine team could not even take a single shot on Spain’s goal in this half. The regular time of the game ended without a goal.
