ISLAMABAD: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced the abolition of the Rs 10 currency note and the issuance of coins in its place.
An important development has come to light regarding the new currency notes in the meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance. Deputy Governor State Bank Dr. Inayat Hussain said that with the upcoming issuance of new currency notes, the Rs 10 note will be abolished and a Rs 10 coin will be issued in its place.
He said that the cost of producing the Rs 10 note has increased, due to which there has been a request to abolish it. However, the existing Rs 10 notes will not be abolished immediately, but this change will be implemented after the issuance of new currency notes.
