ISLAMABAD: The federal government has approved the deployment of the army in Rawalpindi for 6 months.
According to the notification issued, the approval for the deployment of the army in Rawalpindi was given under Article 245 of the Constitution, 3 companies of the Pakistan Army will be deployed in Rawalpindi for 6 months.
On the request of the Punjab Home Department, the federal cabinet has approved the deployment of the army in Rawalpindi.
According to the notification, the army will maintain law and order in collaboration with the district administration, and security arrangements will be made effective at sensitive places and important highways.
