ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Energy has made Nepra license mandatory for all consumers installing solar systems.
According to Nepra sources, consumers will have to obtain a license to generate electricity according to the system.
Sources say that earlier distribution companies could issue licenses to consumers up to 25 kW.
According to Nepra sources, the Ministry of Power Division made Nepra license mandatory under the solar system amendments, consumers will also have to pay a pay order in the name of Nepra as a fee according to the load.
Before the amendments, consumers were issued a free license for a 25 kW system.
According to sources, consumers will have to pay an additional fee of Rs 1,000 per kW.
Nepra sources say that under the amendments, consumers will be able to be given connections on net billing projects, consumers using hybrid technology will be exempted from the license.
