ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert of strong winds, thunderstorms and hail in most parts of the country during the next 12 to 24 hours, while fears of lake bursting, flash floods and landslides due to melting glaciers have also been expressed.
According to the NDMA, rain is likely in various areas of Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and Sindh, while hail is also expected in some places.
The NDMA spokesperson says that there will be rain with strong winds and thunderstorms in various districts of Islamabad and Punjab, during which there is also a risk of hail in some places.
Meanwhile, heavy rain has been predicted in various areas of Gilgit Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Kashmir.
The NDMA has warned that glaciers may melt rapidly due to continuous rains and rising temperatures, increasing the risk of lake bursting, flash floods and landslides.
Thunderstorms and hailstorms are also expected in various parts of Sindh.
The NDMA has directed citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, monitor the weather conditions and follow the instructions of relevant agencies.
