KARACHI: Heatwave alerts have been issued in various districts of Sindh due to intense heat, while a weather forecast has also been issued for Karachi.
The Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert, saying that the weather is likely to remain hot, extremely hot and dry in most parts of Sindh province. The central and upper areas of the province will remain under the grip of heatwave until May 3.
Under the influence of this situation, the districts of Jamshoro, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Kashmore, Ghotki, Sanghar, Khairpur, Nowshera Feroze, Jacobabad, Larkana and Sukkur will be affected by intense heat.
According to meteorologists, the maximum temperature in these districts during the day is likely to be 4 to 6 degrees Celsius higher than normal. Citizens have been instructed that due to the intensity of the heat, especially children, women and the elderly should take precautionary measures. Avoid going out of their homes during the day in direct sunlight.
The announcement further states that maximum water usage should be ensured during the heat wave, while farmers have been advised to arrange the wheat crop according to weather conditions and protect their livestock from hot weather.
Regarding Karachi, the Meteorological Department says that the maximum temperature in the city today and tomorrow may exceed 38 degrees Celsius, while on Saturday the weather will remain hot and dry with stronger than usual winds.
On Sunday, the temperature in Karachi may increase by another degree, reaching 39 degrees Celsius.
According to the Meteorological Department, sea breezes may continue to be active in Karachi, however, westerly winds may also blow for a short time. There is no possibility of a heat wave in the city during the current heat wave.
