Canberra: A new chapter is about to be written in Australia’s defense history, for the first time it has been decided to appoint a female general as the head of the army.
According to the details, a major and historic change has been made in Australia’s defense leadership. For the first time in Australia’s history, it has been decided to appoint a female general as the head of the army (Army Chief).
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese made the official announcement that Lieutenant General Susan Coyle, who is currently the head of Joint Capabilities.
She will take over her responsibilities in place of the outgoing army chief in July. The Prime Minister said that this appointment is the beginning of a new tradition in the Australian defense system and from July the country will have its first female military chief in its history.
Susan Coyle, 55, joined the Australian Army in 1987. During her long and distinguished career, she has held several important command positions, but she is going to be the first woman to lead any branch of the Australian Army.
According to defense experts, Susan Coyle’s appointment comes at a time when the Australian military is making strong efforts to increase the representation of female officers in its ranks.
