MUMBAI: India defeated West Indies by 5 wickets in the Super Eight stage match of the T20 World Cup, after which West Indies’ journey in the tournament ended while India qualified for the semi-finals.
Batting first, West Indies scored 195 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, India achieved the target in the last over.
Roston Chase 40, Shai Hope 32, Shimron Hetmyer 27, Romain Paul 34 and Jason Holder stood out with 37 runs for West Indies.
India’s Jasprit Bumrah took 2 wickets, Hardik Pandya and Viren Chakraborty took one wicket each.
India’s Sanju Samson played a brilliant batting innings of 97 runs and was not out. While Tilak Verma scored 27. Jason Holder and Shimron Joseph took 2 wickets each for West Indies.
