COLOMBO: Pakistan easily defeated Namibia by 102 runs in the ICC T20 World Cup and qualified for the Super 8 stage.
In the match played in Colombo, national team captain Salman Ali Agha won the toss and decided to bat first.
Pakistan set Namibia a target of 200 runs to win thanks to Sahibzada Farhan’s brilliant century.
Chasing the target of 200 runs, the Namibian team was bundled out for 97 runs.
2 changes were made in the national team for the match against Namibia, Mirza Salman and Khawaja Nafi were given a chance in place of Shaheen Afridi and Abrar Ahmed.
Pakistan’s innings
Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub opened the innings for Pakistan, but Saim Ayub was dismissed for 40 runs after scoring 14 runs.
National team captain Salman Ali Agha also lost his wicket after scoring 38 runs off 23 balls, while Khawaja Nafi scored 5 runs.
On the other hand, Sahibzada Farhan scored his first century in the T20 World Cup while batting brilliantly. He scored his century with the help of 4 sixes and 10 fours off 57 balls.
Pakistan scored 199 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, Sahibzada Farhan remained not out after scoring 100 runs, while Shadab Khan also played an innings of 36 runs. For Namibia, Jack Bressell took 2 wickets and Gerhard Erasmus took one wicket.
Namibia’s innings
Chasing Pakistan’s target of 200 runs, Namibia’s batting line proved to be a wall of sand and the entire team was dismissed for 97 runs in the 18th over.
Steenkamp scored 23 and Alexander scored 20 runs for Namibia.
For Pakistan, Shadab Khan took 3 wickets for 19 runs. Usman Tariq took 4 wickets for 16 runs.
With this victory, Pakistan qualified for the Super 8 stage along with India from Group A.
