ISLAMABAD: A new series of heavy rains and snowfall with thunderstorms has been predicted.
More rain and snowfall in the upper districts have been predicted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Sunday night to Tuesday.
According to the Meteorological Department, a new series of westerly winds is expected from January 25 to 27. The PDMA has indicated the possibility of heavy rain and snowfall in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla and Kohistan.
The PDMA has issued instructions to all district administrations to remain alert and take precautionary measures. Heavy snowfall is expected at a few places in the upper areas.
Heavy rain with thunderstorms has been predicted in the low-lying areas of Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera and Kohat. Due to rain and snowfall, there is a risk of landslides and avalanches in the upper districts.
Heavy rain with snowfall is expected in Murree, Galiat and other mountainous areas. Rain is also likely in Lahore, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Multan, Faisalabad, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur divisions.
According to the PDMA, 9 people have died in various accidents during the recent rains and snowfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The dead include 7 children, one man, one woman, while the injured include a child.
