ISLAMABAD: A new alert of rains and hail has been issued across the country, in which all institutions have been directed to remain on high alert to deal with the possible situation.
According to the details, the National Disaster Management Authority predicted the arrival of a new series of westerly winds across the country, which will cause thunderstorms, strong winds and rains in different areas from tomorrow to March 25.
The NDMA said that this new series of westerly winds will start affecting the northern and western regions of the country from tomorrow.
There is a possibility of rain in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Sialkot, Gujranwala and Lahore, while hail may also occur with thunderstorms in some places of upper Punjab. In addition, clouds will also fall in Multan, Khanewal, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan and DG Khan.
Intermittent rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is expected in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while rain with strong winds is expected in various areas of Balochistan from tomorrow to March 23.
Sindh: Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Dadu, Hyderabad and Karachi may also receive scattered rain, while rain is likely in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, while snowfall is likely in the mountainous areas.
The NDMA has directed all provincial and district disaster management authorities to remain on high alert to deal with the possible situation.
The concerned agencies have been ordered to ensure the cleaning of storm drains and the availability of machinery for emergencies.
