LAHORE: Lahore received 263 mm of rain in a single spell today, causing flooding everywhere.
Traffic faced severe difficulties due to several feet of water accumulating on the roads, many motorcycles and vehicles were stuck in water, while boats were stranded in the Defense area.
According to the WASA spokesperson, the Lahore Airport area recorded the highest rainfall of 263 mm, Tajpura 157.4 mm, Kahna 143 mm, Shadipura 136 mm, Mughalpura 133 mm, Mall Road 116 mm, Manawan 112.2 mm, Johar Town 81 mm and Chowk Nakhda 64.6 mm.
DHA received so much rain that the water came up against the roof of the underpass, Harbanspura underpass also had to be closed for traffic due to water accumulation.
Citizens faced severe hardships due to water entering houses in Tajpura. Several feet of water accumulated in Canal Road, Jalo Park, Medical Scheme, Tajpura Scheme and other settlements in front of Journalist Colony.
A motorcycle crashed into a pole due to a slip on Ferozepur Road near Kahna. Two brothers died due to head injuries in the accident. Four people were injured when the roof of a house made of TR girder collapsed in DHA Phase 4.
