ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has increased the levy on high-octane fuel used in luxury vehicles from Rs 100 to Rs 300 per liter.
In a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif via video link, it was decided to increase the levy on high-octane fuel.
A notification has been issued to increase the petroleum levy on high-octane fuel by Rs 200 per liter. The levy on HOBC has been increased to Rs 305.37 per liter, earlier the levy on HOBC was Rs 105.37 per liter. The new price of HOBC in the country has been increased to Rs 535.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s House, the prices of fuel used in ordinary vehicles used by the lower and middle classes have not been increased and only the price of high-octane fuel used in luxury vehicles has been increased.
According to the announcement, regular petrol will be available at the old price and this decision will not increase the fares of public transport and aircraft.
According to the announcement of the Prime Minister’s Office, the decision will save the government Rs 9 billion per month, which will provide relief to the people.
