Riyadh: A statement from the consultative meeting of Arab and Islamic foreign ministers in Saudi Arabia has been issued, strongly condemning Iranian attacks on the region.
The foreign ministers participating in the meeting hosted by Saudi Arabia described Iran’s attacks on Gulf countries as a serious threat to regional peace and stability, saying that Tehran is targeting civilian infrastructure, airports, oil installations, embassies and public places in Gulf countries, which is unacceptable in any way.
The statement clarified that under Article 51 of the United Nations, Gulf states have the full right to self-defense. The meeting called on Iran to immediately stop the attacks, respect international law and respect the sovereignty of neighboring countries.
It was further said that Iran should abandon aggressive actions in the region, ensure the security of the Strait of Hormuz, not obstruct global trade and refrain from spreading proxy wars and supporting armed militias in neighboring countries.
