MUMBAI: Nepal defeated Scotland by 7 wickets in a thrilling encounter in the 33rd match of Group C of the T20 World Cup.
Scotland, batting first, scored 170 runs in the allotted 20 overs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Michael Jones played a brilliant innings of 71 runs off 45 balls, while George Munshi scored 27 and Brendon McMillan scored 25 runs. Sompal Kumi took 3 wickets and Nandan Yadav took 2 wickets for Nepal.
Chasing a target of 171 runs, Nepal batted confidently and achieved the target in 19.2 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. Kaushal Bhartitel scored 43 and Asif Sheikh scored 33 runs while captain Rohit Paudel was dismissed for 16 runs.
However, Dipendra Singh Airi scored an aggressive half-century, scoring an unbeaten 50 off 23 balls and leading the team to victory, while Gulshan Jha also played a crucial innings of 24 runs.
