ISLAMABAD: The National Commission for Minority Rights Bill 2025 was passed by a majority vote in a joint session of Parliament.
A vote was taken on the motion to introduce the National Commission for Minority Rights in a joint session of Parliament chaired by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
PPP’s Abdul Qadir Patel did not vote in favor of the motion, he walked out of the House, and the National Commission for Minority Rights Bill was passed by the House by a majority vote.
When the National Commission for Minority Rights was presented in the joint session of Parliament, Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar said on this occasion that no proposal is being brought against the Quran and Sunnah.
Azam Nazir Tarar said that the JUI has also been assured about this legislation. The Law Minister said that Kamran Murtaza said that its clause 35 should be deleted. The Federal Law Minister said that we have no objection to deleting this clause too, politics should not be done on the law related to minorities.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that why is such a law brought that someone will take advantage of it tomorrow, we are all ready to talk about the rights of minorities, if one law becomes supreme, then other laws take a back seat.
Later, the joint session of Parliament was adjourned indefinitely.
